HOLLYWOOD, FLORIDA – Alaska Republican Party Chairman Peter S. Goldberg and National Committeewoman Cynthia Henry, are in Florida this week for the Republican National Committee’s spring meeting. The RNC has three meetings each year.
Front and center at the gathering is expected conversation in the Standing Committee on Rules, where Goldberg will represent the Alaska Republican Party.
The Rules Committee has influence on how the GOP’s July Convention will be conducted.
“It’s important to remember that while there are a lot of rumors swirling around about potential rule changes, no changes are expected to take place this week,” said Goldberg. “Rules that affect the conduct of the national convention will be reviewed for change, modification or deletion by the convention’s Committee on Rules. Each state and territory and the District of Columbia will provide one man and one woman elected from its respective delegation to serve on that committee. Any recommendations that emerge from the work of that committee need to be ratified by a majority of the entire body of the national convention delegates."
Since becoming chair of the Alaska Republican Party in 2013, Chairman Goldberg has made every RNC meeting except one, because it overlapped a primary election in Alaska. In addition, he has attended two Western State Chairman Fly-ins.
