Anchorage, Alaska – Alaska Republican Party Chairman Tuckerman Babcock issued the following statement regarding Sen. Ted Cruz’ suspension of his presidential bid.
“The State Central Committee spoke loud and clear just last week that we need to hear from the candidates themselves about whether or not they want to release their delegates or retain them. Until we have more information from Senator Cruz, we’ll be in a holding pattern.”
Some 28 delegates and 25 alternates have been selected to attend the Republican National Republican Convention in Cleveland, which begins on July 18. Twelve of those delegates are pledged to Cruz, 11 to Donald Trump, and 5 to Sen. Marco Rubio.
“We’re very saddened to learn that Senator Cruz decided to suspend his campaign,” said Judy Eledge, Cruz campaign coordinator for Alaska.
